A mix of winter staples and playful events fills the weekend, from skating and cat birthdays to Galentine’s brunches and flea markets.

With the semester finally running on a normal schedule after weeks broken up by holidays and snow, this weekend feels like the first real pause since winter break ended. The lineup reflects that shift, offering a mix of campus traditions, city staples and easy plans that fit somewhere between catching your breath and getting back into a routine.

Saturday

Jeppson’s Birthday Party, A BARCS Fundraiser, Peabody Heights Brewery, 401 E. 30th St., 1–7 p.m.

The brewery is throwing a birthday party for its beloved worker cat, Jeppi, complete with beer, Malort and animal-themed vendors. Adoptable animals from BARCS will be at the brewery from 1–4 p.m., and 10% of drink sales throughout the day will support the shelter.

Baltimore Restaurant Week (extended!)

Baltimore Restaurant Week has been extended through Saturday due to recent winter weather that disrupted dining across the city. The extra days give diners more time to take advantage of prix fixe menus at participating restaurants across a range of neighborhoods and cuisines, offering a final chance to explore the city’s dining scene before the promotion wraps up.

Sunday

Galentine’s Day Flamingle Brunch, Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, Mansion House Porch, 1876 Mansion House Dr., 12–4 p.m.

This 21-and-over Galentine’s celebration brings drag brunch to the Zoo with a roaring ‘20s twist. Tickets include zoo admission, a brunch buffet by Miss Shirley’s Cafe, an open bar and drag and burlesque performances, plus keeper chats and animal ambassador meet and greets. Expect jazz music, photo ops, crafts and plenty of time to visit the flamingos before the party starts. Tickets are $110 plus fees.

Ottobar’s Punk Rock Flea Market, Ottobar, 2549 N. Howard St., 12–4 p.m.

Ottobar hosts a free afternoon market packed with handmade goods, vintage clothing, patches, pins, zines, art and assorted punk oddities. Expect a rotating lineup of local vendors, loud aesthetics and plenty of reasons to linger. Admission is free.

Homewood Ice Rink, Imagine Center parking lot off W. University Pkwy, 10 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

The Homewood Ice Rink is back for the season, welcoming Hopkins affiliates and the Baltimore community on weekends for a free skating session on campus. Lace up rental skates, book a 90-minute slot in advance and enjoy a full day of winter fun close to Homewood. Admission is free and availability is weather-dependent.
