The Student Government Association (SGA) met on Tuesday, Sept. 2, for its second general body meeting of the semester. They provided members information on how to manage projects, discussed a dining initiative and hosted team building activities.
The meeting opened with a presentation on how to launch new initiatives, aimed at both newcomers and returning members interested in starting projects. The presentation covered identifying student needs, structuring proposals and contacting University administration to move individual or committee initiatives forward.
One new project, introduced by a junior senator, focuses on addressing dining concerns among undergraduates — particularly underclassmen who are required to purchase a Hopkins meal plan. The council plans to survey students and compile their feedback to present to Hopkins Dining and its Student Advisory Board. Preliminary concerns raised by SGA members include food quality, affordability, dining hall hours and accessibility at Hopkins Café and Nolan’s.
A proposal to move weekly general body meetings from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays failed to gain enough support to pass.
The meeting concluded with group activities designed to build relationships among new and returning members.
