Athlete of the Week: Erik Bostrom — Men’s Swimming

This past weekend, the Hopkins men’s and women’s swim teams hosted the Blue Jay Invitational, their last home meet of the season. The Blue Jays performed strongly across the board, breaking 16 pool records in total. For the men, senior Mark Wilson, juniors Emile Kuyl and Peter Lazorchak and sophomore Brandon Fabian shattered a 14-year-old pool record in the 400 Medley.

After about three weeks of hard training over Intersession, the Hopkins track and field teams were back on the start line for the Dr. Sander Invitational. The meet was held at the famous Armory Track in New York City this past Saturday, where both the men’s and women’s teams excelled with multiple personal-best performances.

M. Basketball rise to third in Centennial Conference

The Hopkins men’s basketball team continued their winning ways this past week in a pair of contests against Centennial Conference foes McDaniel College and Ursinus College. The Blue Jays began their dominating week with a win against the McDaniel College Green Terror in Goldfarb Gym.

Super Bowl Sunday has arrived. The New England Patriots will face a team named after a bird in their quest to claim yet another Vince Lombardi Trophy. Sound familiar? In a rematch of Super Bowl XXXIX, the Pats will face the Philadelphia Eagles in hopes of claiming a what would be a record-tying sixth Super Bowl championship

The Hopkins men’s and women’s fencing teams traveled to Haverford College to compete in the Dan Arnstein Invitational, where both teams finished the day 3-0.

The Hopkins men’s and women’s fencing teams have both had impressive early starts to the 2017-2018 season. Both teams went unbeaten at Haverford College’s Dan Arnstein Invitational, and the women made a special showing at the NIWFA Christmas Invitational, claiming two titles and placing four in the top three for their respective weapon.



Athlete of the Week Maya Hammonds — track and field

This past Saturday, the Hopkins men’s and women’s track and field teams travelled to Lancaster, Pa. for the Diplomat Invitational, their first meet of the indoor season. Throughout the day of the competition, both teams saw a wide range of exemplary performances.

M. Basketball improves to 7-0 by beating Mules

This past weekend, the Hopkins men’s basketball team took on Centennial Conference opponent, the Muhlenberg College Mules, at Goldfarb Gymnasium. The Blue Jays sit at 2-0 in the Conference and 6-0 on the season, keeping their undefeated record going into December.

W. Basketball falls short against top-ranked Mules

This past Saturday, the Hopkins women’s basketball team matched up against Centennial Conference adversary, the now 19th-ranked Muhlenberg College Mules. The Blue Jays fell just short of completing a big upset against the Mules, losing 69-64 in overtime in a thrilling matchup between the Centennial Conference foes.

M. Basketball remains undefeated this season

The Hopkins men’s basketball team opened the 2017-2018 season on Nov. 15 at home against the Marymount University Saints. It was also the debut for Hopkins head coach Josh Loeffler, who took over for Bill Nelson after 31 seasons with the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays take home their fifth NCAA championship in six years.

W. Cross Country defends NCAA championship

As the rest of the student body was gearing up to go home and finally get some well-deserved sleep during Thanksgiving break, the Hopkins women’s cross country team was diligently preparing for the NCAA Championship race. The Blue Jays made their way to Principia College in Elsah, Ill. with hopes to defend their second straight NCAA title.
