In a blazing come-from-behind victory, the Hopkins women’s tennis team beat out the Carnegie Mellon Tartans to take home the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III National Team Indoor Championship Sunday in Greencastle, Ind. In its previous two trips to the championship, the team was far from taking home hardware, finishing no higher than seventh in both outings. After this win, however, the Lady Jays are now ranked number one by ITA, a monstrous leap from their 11th place ranking earlier this week, and remain an undefeated 3-0 on the season.

Chants like, “Michelle Obama, tell your man: stop this dirty climate plan!” and “Hey Obama, we don’t want no climate drama” filled the National Mall Sunday at the Forward on Climate Rally. The more than 40,000 attendees, including several Hopkins students, then marched to the White House.

Baltimore City Police and detectives from the Commercial Robbery Office were at Subway on the corner of St. Paul and 33rd Streets Friday night to investigate a robbery at the restaurant. Detective Vernon Davis, of the Baltimore CIty Police Department Office of Communications confirmed that it was indeed a robbery at gunpoint. The original 911 call came at 10:52 p.m. The entrances to Subway were cordoned off and the store closed so employees could be questioned by police.

Citizens are becoming journalists. Social media outlets like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook have played a role in modernizing and bringing immediacy to already immediate news channels by allowing people to post in real time as things happen from anywhere as long as someone has a smartphone handy.

On Sunday, Katie Moody, an employee at the School of Medicine and a Hopkins alumna, tweeted “Hey, Smith, how about you call your bro and tell him all about your wi—ohhhh. Wait. #TooSoon?” in reference to Baltimore Raven’s wide receiver Torrey Smith. The tweet came after Smith caught two touchdown passes in Sunday’s game against the Patriots which the Ravens won 31-30. Smith played in the game despite having found out that his younger brother, Tevin Jones, was killed in a motorcycle accident the night before.

Outside Bradford Hall, there is a stoop. Some of the stairs, especially to the right of the railing that bisects it, are worn to the point of depression; instead of a level surface, there is a divot.

Sophomore Nathan Krasnopoler was hit by a car while bicycling near the intersection of W. University Parkway and 39th Street last Saturday. He was sent to Hopkins Hospital, where he has been listed in critical condition.

Within the next year, the Hopkins Medical School and University of Baltimore Law School will be working together in a joint venture to encourage communication between the professions. The Center will be located at the PLACE, with both offices currently being hosted on the Hopkins medical campus.

Not many groups at Hopkins can tout themselves as philanthropic ventures. Girl Up, a recently approved campus group, which works through the Center for Social Concern, is just that. At its heart, Girl Up looks to bring attention to the plight of girls around the world.

Instead of relying on paper charts and records to treat patients, the Hopkins Health and Wellness Center is in the process of adopting a paperless Electronic Medical Record. The switch is hoped to enhance documentation.

As students register for classes, many seem to feel there is an inadequate relationship between the number of credits they take and the amount of work they are required to do. Though the average Hopkins course is worth three credits, the credit value awarded to some courses seems disproportionate to the work associated with the course.
