Football comes back with a vengeance on Saturday

The Hopkins football team returned with a vengeance after their disappointing upset to Susquehanna University last week with a massive blowout victory against Moravian College, defeating their fellow Centennial Conference members by a score of 41-0. The Jays held the Greyhounds to only 132 total yards of offense the whole game and dominated from the first touchdown to the fifth.

Gurley money is too much buck for too little bang

Todd Gurley is the worst. Not only did he reset an already saturated running back market with a landmark contract that included $21.9 million guaranteed, but he also accidentally created a completely new term for getting paid and it’s absolutely ridiculous: Gurley money.

Athlete of the Week: Ryan Hubley

The old saying goes, “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight; it’s the size of the fight in the dog.” Next to that saying should be a picture of junior Ryan Hubley, a five-foot-seven, 165-pound wide receiver who has made his presence felt on the Hopkins football program and on any opposing defense that tries to cover him.

This past Saturday, the Hopkins field hockey team had a chance to get back on track, hosting The Catholic University of America Cardinals. After suffering their first loss of the season in a nail-biter to the Christopher Newport University (CNU) Captains, they were looking to right the ship against another non-Conference opponent.

One of the top stories in Hopkins sports last fall was the Hopkins field hockey team’s incredible run, which saw the Blue Jays finish with a 15-2 regular season before going on to win the Centennial Conference Tournament. Hopkins would take that momentum into the National Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament, winning two games and advancing all the way to the Final Four before seeing their season ended against the eventual runner-up Tufts University.

Men’s soccer lights up the scoreboard in pair of wins

The No. 22 Hopkins men’s soccer team walked onto Homewood Field this weekend ready to take care of business. The Jays won the weekend, defeating both the Washington and Lee University Generals and the Montclair State University Red Hawks by wide margins.
