The WNBA is a growing industry: from selling out crowds to record breaking viewership, there has been massive growth within the league over the last two years. New talent including Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers have massively elevated league popularity, with additional newfound respect for league veterans like A’ja Wilson, Alyssa Thomas and Napheesa Collier.
The pinnacle of motorsports took on an American classic this weekend. Before Miami, before Las Vegas, before the barrage of influencers and brand trips, there was the United States Grand Prix (USGP). Every year since 2012, when the sport switched from Indianapolis to Austin, the Formula series cars have raced around the Circuit of the Americas (COTA). COTA is thought of by some as the main American race, the one that represents our culture and truly embraces the spirit of the country.
After a disappointing first half of the 2024 MLB season, the New York Mets caught fire and blazed a path to an unlikely playoff spot, culminating in an NLCS loss to the eventual World Series champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers. On the shoulders of utility-man Jose “Candelita” Iglesias’s hit song, “OMG,” the vibes around the Mets clubhouse could not have been higher. After a perpetuity of seasons that ended in massive let-downs, it finally seemed as if there was real hope for the Mets to win their first world series in almost 40 years.
As a college football fan, I am constantly bombarded by folks on the internet claiming that NIL, the new system through which college athletes can get paid, and the 12-team playoff have ruined college football. People point to how the transfer portal has created a system where players are chasing money instead of remaining loyal to their team. However, they are just looking back nostalgically on a system where the same teams won every year. I think these pundits are completely wrong. This current system is by far the most entertaining college football has been in my lifetime and has fixed a system that exploited young athletes for decades.
Cricket runs deep in Pakistan’s national identity, predating the nation itself. After all, cricket in the Indian subcontinent emerged in the colonial era, eventually serving as a vessel of nationalistic pride against the British. Following independence, the Pakistani National Cricket Team burst onto the international stage, first as they were granted Test status by the ICC in 1952, before developing into a powerhouse in the 1980s.
Week One of the NFL season is officially complete, and as such, there is no better time to take a preliminary look at what could be some of the best teams in the league this year. Will this hold up by season’s end? Probably not… but a bit of harmless predicting has never hurt anyone! So let’s get into it…
Now more than ever, parity reigns in Major League Baseball. It’s unlikely there will be a single 100-win team this season — something that hasn’t happened in back-to-back years since 2013. The top three, and even the top 10, are tightly packed in terms of talent, with many teams poised for deep playoff runs. Here’s how they stack up in early September:
In the largest declaration of “bro-culture” in pro golf since John Daly, the 2017 spring break Snapchat stories of Rickie Fowler, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth and Smylie Kaufman tearing up the Baker’s Bay Club in the Bahamas took their rightful place in the (albeit sparse) rafters of moments golf that was cool. Seeing the best young players in the world (and Smylie Kaufman, too!) shirtless, with backwards hats, swim trunks on, barefoot and beverages in hand, careening across the course with music blasting became a seminal moment for their perception: harbingers of a new generation, one utterly unconcerned with the establishment’s decorum.
It’s that time of the year again! I’m back for my second year of NFL Mock Drafts, hopefully with more success than last year. The incoming draft class doesn’t have the same kind of top-end quarterback talent as 2024’s, and so in some respects that makes the process all the more interesting. This year also has the added interest of every team owning their first draft pick, something that has never happened before. Given this, we may see some draft-night trades as teams look to bolster their rosters or accumulate more draft capital — I, however, won’t be delving into any trades in this mock. So, without further ado, lets dive into the action of what might take place this Thursday!
We are officially reaching the peak of NFL Draft season, so there’s no better time to take a look at some of my favorite potential picks in the first round. Last year I discussed a similar topic, and in retrospect I’m pretty stoked to see most of the predictions I made: particularly Quinyon Mitchell going to the Eagles, a pick that ended up contributing considerably to their Super Bowl victory.
America’s favorite pastime is back!
Welcome back, UEFA Champions League faithfuls! After a thrilling round-of-16, we arrived at the quarter finals with some incredible match-ups. Check out the results of this phase of the competition below!
The 2025 Major League Baseball (MLB) season is officially underway, with all 30 ball clubs opening their seasons last week. As always, opening day comes with a sense of optimism for all baseball fans, which is sure to be dampened after the first borderline pitch goes the wrong way. Last year, I wrote this same article making five bold predictions after the first week. I got them all wrong. But that won’t deter me from trying again. So, in the spirit of opening day and new beginnings, here are five predictions for the 2025 MLB season:
Spring 2025
Hi, everyone! After the double-header opener of the 2025 F1 season, the dust is starting to settle in the single-seat motor racing world. Drivers are getting used to their new gigs, engineers are learning the weaknesses of the cars and team principals are planning for the season. And although neither of us has ever met Zak Brown, we’re imagining that he is spending this break between races discreetly grinning like the cat that ate the canary. Christian Horner? Not so much.
As the 2024–2025 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup season comes to an end, Team USA is racing to take a Crystal Globe.
Bryce Harper may be known as the Philadelphia Phillies’ super slugger and two time National League MVP, but this offseason he decided to share his hobbies in a new way — through the social media app TikTok.
Two months ago, the Golden State Warriors looked all but finished. A sad, disappointing ending to one of the most storied and successful teams in the history of the NBA. It appeared as if we had already witnessed the last truly competitive basketball we might ever see from Stephen Curry and co.
The first-ever UEFA Champions League (UCL) playoffs took place over the past two weeks, as 16 teams battled it out for eight Round of 16 spots. In case you missed out on the action, let me catch you up on the world’s most prestigious club soccer competition. This is part two to an earlier article, so make sure you check that out as well!
