Syracuse may have defeated Hopkins in the NCAA championship game, but now the Blue Jays are stealing one from the Orange. On Monday, Hopkins lacrosse received a letter of intent from John Greeley, the top-ranked lacrosse recruit from the class of 2009. Greeley, from LaFayette, N.Y., just south of Syracuse, had given a verbal commitment to Hopkins in June, but affirmed that he would play for the Jays when he signed his LOI.
"It wasn't anything against Syracuse," Greeley told News 10 Now in Syracuse. "I just wanted to get away, and I feel like I can get a better education at Hopkins. I like the fact that Coach Pietramala and the whole staff really stressed the word family, and everyone's always together. It's a good atmosphere to be around."
Greeley is part of a great recruiting class for the Jays, which includes five other Top-50 seniors, including fifth ranked Chris Lightner from Towson, 15 ranked Chase Winter from Mountain Lakes, N.J., and 22nd Matt Palasek from Rocky Point, N.Y.
