Send a free Valentine to that special someone

By Mallary Lerner | February 5, 2004

Not sure what to get your girlfriend or boyfriend for Valentine's Day? Ready to tell that special someone in your life how you feel?

How about taking a risk and sending one to that guy or girl who sits in front of you in lecture? If you're feeling especially romantic due to the fact that Valentine's Day is only a short time away, then the Digital Media Center is offering something that may be perfect for you.

This Saturday and Sunday, the 7th and 8th of February, any time between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., the DMC is offering the opportunity to make your own valentine card replete with a photograph. Located in Suite 226 of the Mattin Center is the Valentine Photo Booth, and it's waiting for you to come take advantage of all it has to offer.

The DMC staff will teach all attendees how to set up, save and alter your digital photograph. Additionally, a variety of backgrounds can be added to the picture to make it even more special before it is printed on glossy card stock.

According to Secretary of the Dean of Students, Deborah Buffalin, "The DMC is committed to providing the resources, space and technical assistance students need to pursue digital art projects, and this is just a fun, short term event that serves that mission."

The first card is free to all students, so now is a particularly good time to express your true feelings for someone or for your stand-in valentine. Additional cards can be created at the regular lab printing price.

For more information, check out the Digital Media Center's website at http://digitalmedia.jhu.edu. Alternatively, call Joan Freedman, the DMC director at extension 6-4288 or e-mail her at freedman@jhu.edu.
