I never played any games growing up. I didn’t have a Playstation or an Xbox, nor Wii or other Nintendo products. The closest I got were the ipad games like Clash of Clans and the free version of Minecraft that didn’t allow you to save your progress. I mostly just played basketball outside.

One of the best perks of attending Hopkins is the free, daily access to our state-of-the-art recreation center. And, after their recent renewals, there’s no better time than the present to check out the Ralph S. O’Connor Recreation Center. With new features in the weight room, a number of different workout classes and even a pool and climbing wall, it’s the perfect place to start your day. Work on those muscles and release some pent-up stress and head over.

I used to love aquariums as a kid — nothing was more fascinating than being in a glass tunnel with fish all around me. I had a thing for sharks, too. Well, I may have been deathly afraid of them, but this feeling was lessened when they were blocked off in another medium of existence. I used to beg my parents to take me to the local aquarium in Shanghai every chance I got.

Through the years, CharMar has gone through multiple evolutions of vendors. When I came in as a freshman in 2021, it was the fan-favorite Crepe Studio with the “Nutty Blue Jay” and Daniel the Crepe Guy. A year later, a sandwich station moved in, and I frequented for their chipotle ham sandwiches with apple slices, which were both filling and cheap. Now that I am no longer on a meal plan, I haven’t gone back to CharMar, and I didn’t catch news of The Bun Shop addition until I saw a friend with their classic “Granny Turnover” on campus. Of course, I had to review it, but first, I needed to return to their original spot.

Scoring in the NBA has reached a new high since the Wilt Chamberlain era. Just in the last week, Luka Dončić scored 73, Joel Embiid put up 70 and Devin Booker and Karl-Anthony Towns both posted 62 points on red-hot shooting nights. However, those efforts were not always enough: the Dallas Mavericks won by five, the Philadelphia 76ers won by 10, the Minnesota Timberwolves lost by three and the Phoenix Suns lost by two.

This Sunday, Jan. 28, we’re heading into the decisive weekend for the NFL Conference. The Baltimore Ravens will host the Kansas City Chiefs at the M&T Bank Stadium right here in Baltimore, Md. On the other side of the country, the San Francisco 49ers will host the Detroit Lions at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. Both games are predicted to be incredibly exciting; the Ravens will be playing their first AFC Championship final in 11 years, since their win at Super Bowl XLVII. Quarterback Lamar Jackson has had an amazing season, which is a stark contrast to last January, and is “locked in” to lead the Ravens to the trophy. The Chiefs, on the other hand, are looking to defend their title, bringing in heavyweights like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

I ran off to Boston for Fall Break. 99.9% of the reason was to visit my girlfriend, but a part of me wanted to analyze what gives Boston its reputation as the “best college town” and if it is actually better than the city that I’ve enjoyed so much in the past two years.

When I stepped up to the starting line of the Baltimore Marathon, I wasn’t thinking about much. The crowd buzzed around me with excitement and the National Anthem boomed from the large speakers up front. I knew roughly what pace I was supposed to run out at, and that was about it.

To celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, and to do a bit of research for this magazine article, I watched every single Thanksgiving-themed Friends episode — one episode a day — over dinner with my girlfriend, Stella. What makes this ranking different from the millions of rankings out there is that I am a huge fan of Friends, while Stella hasn’t seen a single episode. So the average of our scores will hopefully provide a fresh perspective. Just a warning, Stella’s intolerance for laugh tracks will be a consistent theme here; she’s more of a Brooklyn Nine-Nine fan.

Writing about running around the city never gets old. This newest edition is about our beloved Charles Street. Yes, the one that many of you can see out of your dorms and apartments. The beautiful Charles Street 12 is a 12-mile road race that runs from the Trader Joe’s in Towson down to the Under Armour headquarters in Federal Hill.

Welcome to Charm City! As your Leisure Editor, I see it as my obligation to introduce you to my favorite spots around Baltimore. Of course, I can’t possibly cover all the eateries, museums and wonderful neighborhoods in just 800 words, so I am choosing a few that students frequent the most: Hampden, Mount Vernon, Inner Harbor, Federal Hill, Fells Point and Towson.

We made it, Blue Jays! Classes have ended, and summer is just around the corner. For some of us, that means leaving Baltimore for a few months. For others, though, it means even more leisure time in this lovely city! If you’re sticking around over the next few months, check out these events in Baltimore.

Hopefully, it is not boring to see my name on yet another piece about a running event because, this time, there is a celebratory twist!

Running can be intimidating, especially when you’re in a new place, but it doesn’t have to be! If you want to explore Charm City to its fullest, you have to escape the “Hopkins bubble.” To us, there is no better way to do that than in a pair of running shoes with a few good friends. Here are some of our favorite running trails around Baltimore, ranging from easy runs with little hills to long runs that will take you all around the city, with a detailed run-down of each route!

Everyone has heard the same old advice about getting eight hours of sleep every night. Parents say it. Teachers say it. Thousands of YouTubers say it. But as college students, we find that school and life naturally get in the way, whether it’s a few midterms, a big essay or a friend's birthday. Some of us celebrate getting even six hours of sleep, but getting a consistent seven to eight hours of sleep provides more benefits than you would think.

Who would voluntarily wake up at 6 a.m. to run in 40-degree weather? Well, at least 11,000 people in Baltimore. Saturday, Oct. 15, was the 21st annual Baltimore Running Festival, which included the 5K, the 10K, the Half Marathon, the Marathon and the BaltiMORON-a-Thon, which is a 5K and a half marathon back-to-back. It is truly for the morons who are obsessed with running — although maybe that’s all of us.
