The Johns Hopkins men's swimming team is the current ECAC champion after a win this weekend. Hopkins finished with 437.5 points for the victory. The Jays, the sole D-III team to compete in the ECACs, beat out 28 other schools this weekend in Pittsburgh. Marist was second with 409 points and Columbia came in third with a total of 377 points.

Four seniors and one junior are ready to lead Hopkins to a long-awaited and well-deserved national championship this spring. With the help of an exceptional coaching staff, the team is "progressing towards the ultimate goal of winning a national championship," said junior Chris Watson.

Syracuse has the Powells; Hopkins has the Peysers, Bensons, DiConzas, Harneds and LeSueurs. On the women's side, Hopkins history doesn't run as thick, but there are the Crisafulli sisters, as well as two younger sisters of former players on this year's team.

The Hopkins Men's and Women's Swimming teams each won three of three this weekend at the Thomas Murphy Invitational. Cross-town rival Loyola hosted the meet, which was also attended by Howard and McDaniel. The Blue Jay men, who are now 4-2 on the season, beat the Greyhounds 199-120, the Bison 239-35 and the Green Terror 236-50. The women followed suit, defeating Loyola 209-121, Howard 245-54 and McDaniel 242-56. The Lady Jays currently own a 4-1 record.

Hopkins Men's Swimming team won the Carnegie Mellon Invitational this past weekend. This marks the team's first win of the season in their third meet; they are now 2-2. The women's team placed second with 835 points to rival Emory (1,119.5 points) improving its record to 1-2 on the season.

Junior setter Betsy Baydala set a single-game assist record with 65 in the Hopkins Invitational on Saturday. The Lady Jays, who advanced to the championship round, lost 3-2 to York.

It's common knowledge that Maryland and New York are the two hotbeds of lacrosse. Just take a look at any major D-I roster and you will see primarily NY or MD listed up and down. Logic would dictate the NCAA Championships would be held in one of these two areas, but beginning in 2005, that will no longer be the case. Baltimore lost its bid to host the NCAA tourney in '05 and '06.

The Johns Hopkins Volleyball team competed in the Battlefield Classic hosted by Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania this past weekend. The team advanced all the way to the championship round, where it was defeated by Salisbury, 3-0, in the Silver Bracket. Eastern College came away with a first-place finish, defeating Gettysburg, 3-1, in the final round.

This past weekend the Johns Hopkins men's soccer team took its first kick towards defending its Centennial Conference championship, winning the 2003 Dr. Al Tucci Kickoff Classic held at Homewood Field. Shutting out both SUNY Farmingdale (8-0) on Friday and Villa Julie College (7-0) on Saturday, the Jays look poised to make another run at the title.

2003 was supposed to be the year. The Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team, equipped with plenty of scoring weapons and a lights-out close defense unit, was poised to make its first NCAA Championship run in 16 years.

Located near President Brody's house, beside the pond and small grassy area behind Gilman Hall is the Johns Hopkins Club, a little-known asset to the University. It serves the Johns Hopkins Community as both a dining and banqueting facility; it is also a place for students, faculty and staff to interact.
