Every so often, you will find a small black truck with bright pink font sitting on what has unofficially been dubbed the “food truck corner” of Homewood Campus. Inside that truck, you will find two extraordinary young women named Erin and Lena Bowman, who are the co-founders of Sistahs’ Sweets. The Bowman sisters are homeschool graduates who operate their own cupcake truck as a full-time business.

To discuss the factors, challenges and lessons learned from being a woman founder, Kristen Corlay Sanmiguel, co-founder of Cabilde, Nandita Balaji, co-founder of InfernoGuard, and Selena Shirkin, founder of StetPulse, came together for a discussion. All three women started their ventures with Hopkins Technology Ventures FastForward U and have since scaled up from a prototype level to functioning startups.
Elections for the Executive Board of the 2022-23 Student Government Association (SGA) include a single ticket and three independent candidates. For the third year, the Executive Board election will coincide with SGA class council elections. Voting begins on Monday, March 14 and runs through Thursday, March 17.

Juniors Breanna Soldatelli, Raymond Perez and Karen He are running for executive president. Sophomore Kobi Khong is running for executive vice president, freshman Kya Nicholson is running for executive treasurer and sophomore Elaina Regier is running for executive secretary.
Recently the project INnovations to generate estimates of children’s soil/dust inTakes (INGEST) received a $1.35 million research grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). A team of researchers from Hopkins and the University of California, San Francisco will quantitatively assess children’s dust and soil exposures using a set of novel research approaches.

The Swedish singer’s junior album leaves us with a hint of nostalgia and a desire for transformative change. This new year, I made a personal commitment to make a change in my life: Be more positive. Even if this seems simple, developing a positive mindset was something that I always struggled with over the years and never made a priority. Upon reflecting on my 2021 and setting goals for the new year, I realized that cultivating positivity does not have to be a drastic change but rather should be incorporated into my everyday actions and outlook on life.
President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in an effort to force Ukraine into the Russian sphere of influence on Feb. 24, local time. Since Feb. 24, thousands in Ukraine have been killed and at least 2 million Ukrainians have fled their country.
After another busy week of back-to-back games, the Hopkins Blue Jays now hold a record of 5-3, losing two of the three games played over the weekend and winning one later on in the week. Over the weekend, two of those games were against the University of Southern Maine Huskies, where each team took a win. The Jays then fell 0-3 to the eighth-ranked Salisbury University Sea Gulls.
Beginning March 19, the University’s guest policies for on-campus housing will extend to allow non-affiliate guests. This policy change comes after the lifting of other restrictions as a result of high vaccination and booster rates on campus.
