Hello. I’m Eric Goodman — Hopkins Class of 2011. I worked on The News-Letter from 2007-2010, the first year as a Sports section staff writer and the last two years as a Sports Editor. Since graduating from Hopkins, I have worked in consulting in D.C. and New York, got an MBA at New York University and now work and live in Seattle with my wife who also went to Hopkins (Class of 2013).

Over the past few weeks, athletes from both the men and women's varsity tennis teams participated in the International Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regional Championship as a part of the fall tennis season. Both the men and women's squads fared very well at the event these past two weekends.

The men's and women's track teams had a busy yet successful run this past weekend. Both teams sent runners to the world famous Penn Relays in Philadelphia, and the Shippensburg Invitational, also in Pennsylvania. Both meets served as a final qualifier before next weekend's Centennial Conference Championships.

The Hopkins men's and women's crew teams competed at the first Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championship on Saturday, finishing ninth with four points. Head coach Steve Perry was named the MARC Women's Coach of the Year.

The Hopkins men's and women's crew teams competed in the 16th annual Caspersen Cup Regatta this past Saturday in Baltimore. While the conditions were less than ideal, with a slight head wind and light rain, both teams placed well facing two other Maryland schools - Washington College and St. John's. The women's crew team finished second with 28 points, behind Washington College's 35 points. The men also finished in second place behind Washington with 28 points.

The News-Letter sat down with men's lacrosse head coach Dave Pietramala for a one-on-one interview. Pietramala has been the head coach at Hopkins since the beginning of the 2001 season, and in his nine years as head coach has led Hopkins to two national titles (2005 & 2007) and a record of 99 wins and 25 losses. A star defensemen for the Blue Jays from 1986 to 1989, 'Petro,' as he has been nicknamed, is the first person in the history of college lacrosse to win a Division I national championship as a player and a head coach.
