Lately, I have found myself in an unhealthy relationship with TikTok. It starts when I am about to fall asleep. All I can do is scroll and scroll, an endless pursuit that inevitably ends in sore eyes and lowered self-esteem.

We’ve all seen photos on Pinterest and Instagram and are probably guilty of the trend ourselves. Houseplants, both living and faux, have taken over our window sills and social media feeds — and for good reason. Studies suggest indoor plants can have positive effects on mental health and productivity. Plus the vibes are undeniably good. Who wouldn’t want to live in a jungle or at least bring a little life to a dark, generic dorm room?

I really wanted to like Falling for Christmas, Netflix’s latest romantic comedy starring Lindsay Lohan. As a fan of Lohan’s nostalgic Mean Girls and Freaky Friday, I was looking forward to seeing her light up the screen in another major film. Since its release on Nov. 10, the film has consistently been featured in Netflix’s top 10 list despite its lackluster reviews from critics.

Eisenhower (MSE) Symposium’s final event on Nov. 16, Len Necefer discussed his current efforts to advocate for the protection of land and the cultural empowerment of Indigeneous people. Necefer, a member of the Navajo Nation, is a climate activist, former University of Arizona Public Policy professor and the CEO and founder of NativesOutdoors.

The 14th Annual SLAM Benefit and Showcase: DJ Got US Slammin’ hosted by the Hopkins SLAM Hip Hop Dance Group filled Shriver Hall with energy and zeal on Nov. 12. With the stage extravagantly decorated by iconic SLAM colored balloons, the showcase this year not only celebrated the diverse dance groups around the DMV area but SLAM’s 20th anniversary as well.

The U.S. Space Force (USSF) has chosen Hopkins as its partner in military education. The Space Force’s decision to partner with Hopkins breaks the precedent of military branches establishing their own colleges.

The Student Government Association (SGA) published the results of a survey they conducted to assess student opinions of the Johns Hopkins Police Department (JHPD) and public safety in an Instagram post on Nov. 11. A detailed report of the results was also emailed to the student body on Nov. 14.

On Nov. 8, the U.S. held its midterm elections, the first cycle since President Joe Biden’s win in 2020. Although the results from several House and Senate races are yet to be determined, we now have a much clearer picture of the political landscape and what matters to voters.
