It was an exciting week for the men’s swim team. The Jays travelled to Shenandoah, Texas for the NCAA Championships. The long four days of competition were filled with a number of record-breaking performances, close standings and even tighter races. However, the Jays made it onto the podium, placing fourth just behind the Emory University Eagles, the Kenyon College Lords and the Denison University Big Red.

Following a tremendous effort at last weekend’s MACFA and NIWFA Championships, the men’s and women’s fencing teams headed to Easton, Pa. on March 11 for the 2017 NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional.

The Hopkins men’s baseball team faced a daunting task this weekend: a doubleheader against the number one and number two teams in NCAA D-III. The Jays themselves were only ranked 40th.

This past weekend at the Track & Field Conference Championships, the Hopkins men clinched their fifth straight Centennial Conference crown. With six individual champions and an 81.5-point margin of victory over runner-up, Haverford College, the Jays dominated the competition at the University of Pennsylvania.

This past weekend, the Hopkins men’s swimming team placed third at the TPSC Invitational, toppling records and garnering victories along the way. Though the team saw incredible performances from a variety of swimmers, this week The News-Letter has chosen senior Evan Holder as Athlete of the Week.

This past Saturday, the Hopkins men’s cross country team clinched the NCAA Mideast Regional Championship for the second time in Hopkins history, defeating top seed and conference rival Haverford College by just one point.

This past weekend, the Hopkins Women’s Fencing Team headed to Philadelphia for the 2016 Elite Invitational. The competition was fierce, and the Jays certainly had their work cut out for them facing North Carolina, Northwestern University, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, Temple and Yale.

Last Friday, the Hopkins field hockey team took to the field for the last game of 2016. Heading into their road finale against the Gettysburg College Bullets, the Jays were eager to make the last game of the season count.

This past Saturday, the Hopkins men’s soccer team triumphed early on against visiting opponent Muhlenberg College at Homewood Stadium. The 2-0 victory was particularly special, as the Jays honored the American Cancer Society in their annual Pink Game, playing specifically for the “Making Strides Campaign.”

This past Friday, the Hopkins volleyball team’s six-game win streak came to a screeching halt with a 3-1 loss against the Randolph-Macon College Yellow Jackets. It would take just one day, however, to reinvent their momentum as Hopkins came to dominate both matches against the Ursinus Collge Bears and Manhattanville College Valiants on Saturday.

This past weekend, the Hopkins water polo team defeated Fordham University and fell to Wagner College in two of their most closely contested conference matches yet. Instrumental to the team’s success was this week’s Athlete of the Week, junior captain and goalie, John Wilson.

In a disappointing overtime defeat, Hopkins men’s soccer lost to Swarthmore 1-0 last Saturday at Homewood Field, leaving the Jays 0-2 in the Conference.

The Hopkins Field Hockey team beat local opponent Goucher College on Sunday Sept. 18, in an exciting overtime victory. Hopkins was immediately put under pressure as Goucher went on the offensive. Nine minutes into the game, Goucher already had the first point on the board.
