While menstruation is a normal and regular bodily process, restrooms on the Homewood Campus do not provide menstrual products — a necessity for around half the population. To address this, juniors Chanel Lee and Bridget Chen founded the student group Wings to bring free and accessible menstrual products to campus.

University officials announced in a schoolwide email on Monday that construction will begin this week on the two blocks of St. Paul Street between 31st and 33rd Street. They expect that the construction, referred to as the Charles Village Streetscape project, will be completed by December 2019.

The Hopkins baseball team travelled down to Fort Myers, Fla. over spring break to compete in the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic. With nine games in 10 days, almost all the Blue Jays saw time on the field, including several freshmen who made their collegiate debuts. The Jays won five games and lost four, which brings them to 14-5 on the season heading into Conference play.

The Committee on Student Elections (CSE) announced on Tuesday the results of the Student Government Association (SGA) executive board elections. Three out of four members of the Hop Forward ticket and one member of the Change ticket won seats, beating out the other candidates.

University officials released the results of the 2018 Campus Climate and Sexual Violence Survey on Friday. Provost Sunil Kumar and Vice Provost for Institutional Equity Kimberly Hewitt reported the survey’s principal findings in a schoolwide email about the University’s response to sexual misconduct.

University President Ronald J. Daniels announced on Tuesday evening that the school will be building a student center where the Mattin Center is currently located. At the end of the Shriver Hall reopening ceremony Daniels invited attendees to a celebration at the Beach that included food trucks, live music and seesaws. At the celebration, Daniels announced the student center project.

During the Student Government Association (SGA) weekly meeting on Tuesday, Executive Vice President AJ Tsang presented impeachment charges against Executive President Noh Mebrahtu. Mebrahtu will face an impeachment hearing during SGA’s next weekly meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 19. This hearing will be closed to the student body, as required by SGA’s constitution.

After undergoing three semesters of renovations, Shriver Hall has been reopened to the Hopkins community. The renovation, which began during the fall of 2017, was slated to be completed by the beginning of spring 2018. University officials announced in February 2018, however, that the project would extend into the 2018-2019 academic year.

Around 100 students, faculty and community members gathered outside of the Milton S. Eisenhower Library (MSE) on Thursday to demand that the University reform how the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) handles cases of sexual violence. Demonstrators also called on administrators to take action against Anthropology Professor Juan Obarrio, who has been accused of sexually assaulting a visiting graduate student in May.
