The women’s volleyball team is playing some of the most dominant volleyball in collegiate history and that is not an exaggeration. After going 35-0 in 2019, the team is 25-0 this year, tying them for the Division-III (D-III) record of consecutive wins.

Hopkins field hockey captured their ninth win of the season against Dickinson College on Wednesday, Sept. 29 and their 10th against Haverford College on Saturday, Oct. 2, remaining undefeated on the year.

With less than one month until tipoff of the 2021-22 NBA season, teams have recently started training camp and are preparing for the following eight months of basketball. To nobody’s surprise, the most frequent question posed during this week’s media day has been about vaccine status. This is the first season that the vaccine has been readily available to the public.

Last week was a momentous event in one of the biggest criminal cases of the past decade. Olympic gymnasts Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney and Maggie Nichols represented themselves and hundreds of unnamed athletes before the Senate Judiciary Committee seeking accountability from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The agency failed to properly handle the investigation into Larry Nassar, the disgraced former doctor of Team USA who sexually assaulted at least 265 young women and girls.

Women’s field hockey faced off against Shenandoah University, Bridgewater College and the University of Lynchburg in their first three games of the season. It had been over 600 days since Hopkins played a field hockey game, but there was no sign of rust from the team as they won all three games last week. Junior defender Anna Scott scored or assisted in all games, propelling Hopkins to 4-1, 6-0 and 2-1 victories.

The women’s lacrosse team faced off against the 23rd-ranked University of Michigan Wolverines in their regular season finale. Hopkins entered the game ranked 15th in the nation and continued their winning streak, extending it to three games. Graduate student attackman Maggie Schneidereith scored a career-high seven goals and nine points to lead Hopkins to a 20-13 victory.

The Hopkins baseball team dominated this past weekend, sweeping the Washington College Shoremen in a doubleheader series in which Hopkins scored a combined 14 runs.

NBA All-Star Weekend is one of the most exciting times to watch basketball. Usually, the events are thrilling. The Skills Challenge and the Three-Point Contest are both extremely competitive and unpredictable in their results. Entertaining and unforced, the All-Star Celebrity Game features famous personalities who surprise fans with their athletic abilities. The Rising Stars Challenge displays the future superstars of the league, and the NBA All-Star Game is the main event for obvious reasons.

While the box score won’t show it, Super Bowl LV was historic for several different reasons. It was the first time one of the teams in the big game actually hosted the event in their home stadium. The game featured Sarah Thomas, the first female to officiate a Super Bowl in National Football League (NFL) history. It was the first time a Super Bowl included a team with all Black coordinators on the sideline.

The 2021 National Football League (NFL) offseason is set to be one of the most entertaining in recent history. The number of game-changing free agents at multiple positions is substantial. There will certainly be tight competition for landing elite free agents in hopes of franchise improvement. Trades are already underway, with the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams swapping quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Jarred Goff in a blockbuster trade. With the offseason one week away, which NFL free agents are popular targets?
