Despite its somewhat underground location, the Dogwood Restaurant on Hampden’s The Avenue is not to be overlooked. Located below the bikram yoga studio’s giant “LOVE” sign, the restaurant is a cozy room with murals on its walls. Contrary to the common review that Dogwood’s dining room is like a cave, its enclosed underground environment gives it a warm, comfortable feel.

If you’re in need of a new Friday food fix, look no further than the colorful and whimsical U-Haul sized truck parked on N. Charles Street. The truck is unmistakable due to its bright design depicting a flamingo, a parrot and a turtle, to name a few, enjoying tropical drinks at a tiki bar on the water. Nevertheless, it can be easy to barrel past this rainbow-hued vehicle as you hurry home after your last class of the week or rush into CharMar for yet another box of sushi because making the trek toward any other food option seems too exhausting. Next time, take a moment to stop and browse Woody’s Taco’s brief yet appetizing menu; you may realize that some Caribbean grub is the perfect capper to your week.

It’s Sunday, and late morning sunlight is pouring into your room mocking you for how late you’ve slept and the mountains of work that await you in the library. You stay in your bed unwilling to detach your head from your pillow in protest against the upcoming week. The thought of even seeing a campus building right now pains you. As you lie there, you cringe at the thought of eating yet another boring and unsatisfying bowl of cereal for breakfast. Maybe you consider a trip to Tambers, but you seriously fear the possibility of running into someone there with whom you’ll be forced to make conversation. So you decide this is a day to treat yourself to Sunday brunch at the Ambassador Dining Room.

With only three weeks of the school year under our belts, it’s surprising that it’s already possible to be sick of Levering salads, Sabra hummus snacks and Subway sandwiches. For some reason we don’t seem to get sick of late night Uni Mini mozzarella sticks and “specials with egg” in the same way. Whenever we waltz into Uni Mini past midnight, we are filled with excitement and enthusiasm of a new adventure into our own version of heaven. One that is chock full of hash browns, powdered donuts, chicken fingers and barbecue sauce. That being said, since most of us don’t frequent Uni Mini on a daily basis — and usually not in daylight — we have to look for ways to prevent the Levering salads from making us crazy.

In last week's column, we described our adventures at Grilled Cheese & Co, but, as any foodie knows, a meal is not complete without dessert. Following our cheesy dinner, we immediately whipped out our iPhones and summoned Siri to find the sweets we were searching for. Ironically, she kept pointing us to the direction of 1036 Light Street, which was the address of Grilled Cheese & Co.

When we first heard that a Maryland-based restaurant devoted entirely to grilled cheese sandwiches was coming to Baltimore, we knew without a doubt that we had to visit. For avid cheese lovers, a grilled cheese restaurant is a dream come true.

As we prepared to return to Hopkins for intersession this January, we also prepared ourselves for a month in which we could take advantage of all that Baltimore's restaurants have to offer. After exploring the Tuesdays with Gertie dinner special at Gertrude's and Restaurant week at Pazo, we decided it was only appropriate to end with a feast at Fogo de Chao.

Most every student at Hopkins has experienced the wonder that is the Fresh Food Café (FFC). The FFC serves every freshman on a regular basis as well as the occasional athlete or die-hard fan. We'll look at a few ways for FFC diners to capitalize on their Hopkins meal-swiping experience.

Uni Mini. You walk (read: stumble) in at around three o'clock in the morning craving your favorite sandwich. The line is almost out the door but you decide the wait is worth your while. You pass the island in the middle of the store and know it's almost your turn to order. You wipe some drool off your chin as you begin to dream about unwrapping the paper of your mouthwatering sandwich. But as you arrive at the counter, you have most likely failed to notice the glass window that stands before you holding Uni Mini's lesser-known food option: the salads.
