This weekend the Hopkins water polo team traveled across the country to Claremont, Calif. to participate in the Gary Troyer Memorial Tournament, where they would face off against the other top Division III teams.

This past weekend, both the men’s and women’s tennis teams traveled away from Hopkins to close out their fall seasons. To start, the women headed to Loyola University to participate in the Loyola Invitational.

This past weekend, both the men’s and women’s cross country teams travelled up to Boston, Mass. for the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown to compete against Division-I competition. Both teams had strong performances, with the men taking 13th out of 23 teams and the women placing 15th out of 24 schools.

On Thursday night, during the NFL’s first game of the year between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons, Nike aired a commercial during the third quarter that would give any sports fan chills. It catered to everyone’s dreams of becoming the best ever, playing under the lights and going down in history.

The MLB regular season has reached its annual apex, as all the playoff battles are still anyone’s to win (or lose). Meanwhile, today as I scroll through my Instagram feed, the video I see over and over again is a video of LeBron James dancing to “Sicko Mode” on the sideline of a youth basketball game.

As a Los Angeles sports fan, I have high expectations for the teams I support. Because I am a fan of the Lakers, Angels and Chargers, I have been thoroughly disappointed by my favorite teams over the last couple of years. With that being said, there is hope for all three of my favorite teams going forward.

The men’s lacrosse team cemented their spot in the Big Ten tournament this past weekend with a victory against the University of Michigan Wolverines on Saturday, thanks to yet another last minute goal by junior attacker Kyle Marr. The Jays take on the University of Maryland Terrapins this coming Saturday, which will determine who gets the No. 1 seed heading into the Big Ten Tournament the following weekend.

With another year of March Madness gone, another year of hope for that perfect bracket has come and gone. In hindsight, there was probably less chance for a perfect bracket this year than any other, with University of Maryland, Baltimore County becoming the first No. 16 seed to ever beat a No. 1 seed and Loyola University Chicago becoming just the fourth ever No. 11 seed to make it to the Final Four.

This past weekend, the men’s tennis team traveled to Swarthmore, Pa. to take on the Generals of Washington and Lee University. The Blue Jays entered the matchup ranked 18th in the country and the Generals ranked 31st.

This past weekend, Hopkins baseball hosted the Baltimore Invitational, with some of the top teams from throughout the East Coast coming to Babb Field to go up against one another.

Coming off a second-place finish at the Eastern Women’s Fencing Conference (EWFC) Championship, the Hopkins women’s fencing team travelled up to Philadelphia, Pa. for the Temple Invitational on Saturday, where they faced off against four top-10 teams.

Tuesday night, the women’s basketball team began their playoff run with the hope of extending their three-game winning streak to end the regular season. Hosting their the play-in game, the Jays took on the fifth-ranked Ursinus College Bears in the first round of the Centennial Conference Tournament.

The men’s basketball team was riding a five-game winning streak as they entered two more Conference games this past weekend. They nipped at the heels of the top two teams in the Centennial Conference, winning in games against the Gettysburg College Bullets and the Dickinson College Red Devils.

The qualification tournament, known as the Hexagonal, started out as poorly as possible for the United States. The top four teams in the group would qualify for at least a playoff spot. All the United States had to do was tie, and they would be guaranteed at least a chance against Australia for the final qualifying position.
