The Johns Hopkins field hockey team concluded its season on Saturday with a 1-0 loss to Ursinus College in Collegeville, Penn. The Blue Jays finished the season with a 6-12 overall record and a 3-7 mark in the Centennial Conference. Hopkins tied for eighth place in the conference and failed to earn a spot in the conference tournament, the same tournament they won last season.

The Johns Hopkins Field Hockey team won its final two home games of the season, beating McDaniel, 2-0, Wednesday night and shutting out Bryn Mawr, 10-0, on Saturday. The wins improved the Blue Jays' record to 6-11 on the season and 3-6 in the Centennial Conference. Hopkins has one game left to play in a season that has turned out to be a disappointing considering the team was selected as the preseason favorites to win the conference.

After winning its first conference game of the season on Saturday at Homewood Field, the Johns Hopkins field hockey team fell to Washington College this past Wednesday in Chestertown, Md. Hopkins lost to Washington College by a score of 3-1 after beating Haverford, 2-1, on Saturday.

The Johns Hopkins field hockey team can't seem to put together back-to-back wins. After finally snapping a season-high five-game losing skid by defeating Scranton College, 1-0, Saturday night, the Jays proceeded to drop their third conference game of the season. The loss came at the hands of Swarthmore, 1-0, Tuesday night.

The Johns Hopkins field hockey team suffered a rough week, getting shut out twice and losing its first conference game to Gettysburg. After a 30-minute rain delay, the Blue Jays faced off against the Bullets on Tuesday night at Homewood Field, but the offense was unable to execute as Hopkins fell by a score of 3-0.

After picking up their first two wins of the season last weekend, the Johns Hopkins field hockey team struggled against Salisbury College, the defending NCAA Division III champions yesterday. On a rainy afternoon at Homewood Field, No. 1 Salisbury defeated Hopkins, 6-0, dropping the Blue Jays' record to 2-3.

The Johns Hopkins field hockey team suffered its second consecutive loss at home Sunday by the score of 4-3 to SUNY-Cortland. The loss came just days after the Blue Jays dropped their season opener, 2-1, to Mary Washington in double overtime. After being voted the favorites to win the conference championship by the Centennial Conference Preseason Field Hockey Coaches' Poll, the Blue Jays suddenly find themselves in an 0-2 hole early in the season. Despite the setback, the Blue Jays remain optimistic about their prospects for the conference schedule, and were content with their performances against two teams that have made it a habit of being in contention for the National Championship -- Mary Washington and Cortland.

The Hopkins men's and women's tennis teams finished the 2004 season on a positive note with a strong showing at the Centennial Conference Championships last weekend. The meet was held in Haverford, Pa. Three Hopkins tennis players advanced to the quarterfinals: freshman Priya Puri, junior Michelle Liang and senior Justin Chan. They all advanced to the second day of competition in singles play. Sophomore Michael Kelly-Sell and senior Grant Roch also competed in the quarterfinals as a doubles team.

After having three matches postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions last weekend, the men's and women's tennis teams finally played in and won their first home meet of the year on Wednesday. The men's team won by a score of 6-1 and the women's team won 7-2 over Gettysburg College in the dual meet.

Both the women and men's Tennis teams lost their meets this past weekend. Although the women's team lost a tough match to Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, they are still 2-1 in the conference. The men's team record, on the other hand, dropped to 0-4 following their two losses this weekend.

Despite a slow start at the Division III Women's Swimming Championships, which were held from March 11-13 in St. Louis, the Johns Hopkins women's swimming team peaked toward the end of the meet, finishing in sixth place. The strong showing is the third-best finish in the school history.

Despite losing to University of Maryland in Baltimore County (UMBC) on Saturday afternoon at the White Athletic Center, both the Johns Hopkins Men's and Women's Swimming team remain optimistic about their postseason prospects in the upcoming ECAC and NCAA meets. In their final home meets of the year, both teams suffered losses to UMBC, a Division I school, with the men losing 128-101 and the women losing 131-78.

Despite losing to the North Carolina Tar Heels in last week's meet at Chapel Hill, both the Johns Hopkins Men's and Women's swimming teams are off to strong starts this year and are growing more competitive as the season progresses. The UNC men's team, which is ranked No. 22 in the nation in Division I, defeated the Hopkins men 153-101.

After a whirlwind week in which it won a Centennial Conference title and an NCAA playoff game, the Johns Hopkins Field Hockey team ended its season abruptly. Losing to the College of New Jersey by a score of 4-0 in the Regional Semifinals last Saturday in Ewing, N.J., the Lady Jays were eliminated from the tournament by TCNJ for the third time in as many postseason appearances.
