We’ll just put it right out there: Dooby’s is worth the trip. While our lunchtime noms could not surpass the dinner meal that simply ROCKED, we enjoyed the space for its laid-back vibe and convenient Charles Street people-watching. (This, by the way, is the perfect homework distraction.) Dooby’s turns off its Internet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accommodate the lunch crowd, so we worked in the beautiful and awe-inspiring Peabody Library (we’re sure studying in there actually makes you smarter) and then headed to Dooby’s for a late laptop lunch around two.

We know, we know, everyone has already been to Brewer’s Art. And everyone who has been to Brewer’s loves it and tells their friends that when they go, they have to get the beer and steak frites. It’s the best in Baltimore. As foodies with fairly similar tastes, we find that when we disagree on a dish (in this case the steak frites), someone must be right and someone must be wrong. So, we figured on this cold, winter’s night, why not settle the long standing debate? And at the beginning of restaurant week with a $30 prix fixe when steak alone costs $28 on the regular menu, why not?!

Although Charles Village has a few quality brunch spots (we’re looking at you, Donna’s), we’ve recently been finding ourselves wanting more. This weekend, our stomachs lead us to Belvedere Market for a much-needed, post-Halloween recovery feast. Belvedere Market, also known as Belvedere Square’s Market, is about a ten-minute drive in the direction of Loyola, so start begging your car-bearing friends to chauffeur you over there.

Tis the season! The fall harvest, U-Pick, all autumn everything season! And we sure are jolly about apples. After all, we take our food seriously — there’s been no doubt about that — so what could be better than tasting and collecting our raw ingredients straight from the source?!

You haven’t been to Thai Restaurant? It’s the best Thai near campus — or so a fellow food fiend told us. And after that, we heard about Thai Restaurant everywhere — friends picking up takeout, an Instagram post and then another taking over our feeds. Why had no one bothered to clue us in sooner? And the place is Zagat-rated. Upon hearing all of this, and as devoted foodies of Charles Village, we knew it was unacceptable that we hadn’t yet been. We bumped Thai Restaurant to the top of our list, letting it glide VIP-style past places like Birroteca and Parts and Labor that have long been waiting in line.

Bonjour, fellow foodies! We are back to food-columning again after a sabbatical year spent in Paris, where we trained our taste buds and refined our palettes. We know you missed us! Now we are back, we are seniors and we refuse to accept that summer is coming to an end.

Walking into Luigi’s is like walking into an old neighborhood favorite — soccer jerseys, pinned next to posters of Italy line the walls, and the tables and chairs look like they’ve come from different corners of your Italian grandmother’s attic. As soon as you see the authentic Italian merchandise (homemade pasta, tomato sauce which is NOT Prego, San Pellegrino Limonata and Aranciata, cannoli shells and more) available on the shelves in front of the counter, you know you’ve got the real deal. Much to our surprise, however, after we asked how long they’ve been a local hotspot, they said they’ve only been there for one year!

Last Friday night, we had the privilege of attending the fourth annual Greek Night in the Charles Commons Ballroom, held by the JHU Hellenic Students Association. The event was a feast for the eyes and stomachs, and attendees — ourselves included! — enjoyed their fill of delicious Greek dishes while watching (and participating in) traditional Greek songs and dances.

Although Potbelly has already been getting sufficient attention with its opening week, we thought we’d head into the new sandwich shop on St. Paul’s to check out the food behind the balloons. Staff, wearing tie dye shirts and smiles, welcomed us into the swarming crowds of customers and guided us to the long line. We joined the herd and looked up at the menu — which includes originals, skinnies, salads, soup/chili, desserts and extras. Since committing ourselves to this article, we have tried: (drum roll please) A Wreck, roast beef, Italian, Mediterranean, T-K-Y and a mushroom melt. We’ve tried the broccoli cheddar and southwestern chicken soup. And also the chocolate chocolate milkshake and sugar cookie. Needless to say, we were pretty determined to get the full Potbelly experience.

When in the midst of Hopkins’s midterms, we firmly believe that one great meal off campus is as essential to your survival as the copious large black coffees that we swear by on campus. So, we elected to treat ourselves to 13.5% Wine Bar in Hampden. 13.5%. Not 13.1%! THIS IS NOT A HALF MARATHON! Although running one before your meal might help you work up a healthy appetite. (Kidding! Be forewarned: the portions are small.) By the end of the night we even heard our neighbors calling it “13.wine percent!”

Back in January, we traipsed over to Peter’s Inn for a delicious and unexpectedly gourmet meal. Not to be confused with Pete’s Grille, the tried-and-true breakfast joint on Greenmount (which, by the way, is also worth a visit), Peter’s Inn is an eclectic award-winning restaurant on South Ann Street in Fells Point. It was rated among Baltimore’s Best Restaurants in 2012, and after our meal here we can see (and taste!) why. The fact that we haven’t been able to get this dining experience out of our heads over month later is a testament to how much we enjoyed each dish!

As we prepared to return to Hopkins for intersession this January, we also prepared ourselves for a month in which we could take advantage of all that Baltimore's restaurants have to offer. After exploring the Tuesdays with Gertie dinner special at Gertrude's and Restaurant week at Pazo, we decided it was only appropriate to end with a feast at Fogo de Chao.

Most every student at Hopkins has experienced the wonder that is the Fresh Food Café (FFC). The FFC serves every freshman on a regular basis as well as the occasional athlete or die-hard fan. We'll look at a few ways for FFC diners to capitalize on their Hopkins meal-swiping experience.

Uni Mini. You walk (read: stumble) in at around three o'clock in the morning craving your favorite sandwich. The line is almost out the door but you decide the wait is worth your while. You pass the island in the middle of the store and know it's almost your turn to order. You wipe some drool off your chin as you begin to dream about unwrapping the paper of your mouthwatering sandwich. But as you arrive at the counter, you have most likely failed to notice the glass window that stands before you holding Uni Mini's lesser-known food option: the salads.
