As European football comes back from winter break, the UEFA Champions League’s (UCL) Round of 16 will be kicking off in the next few weeks. In preparation for that, here are our predictions on how clubs will fare in this new stage of the competition.
Scoring in the NBA has reached a new high since the Wilt Chamberlain era. Just in the last week, Luka Dončić scored 73, Joel Embiid put up 70 and Devin Booker and Karl-Anthony Towns both posted 62 points on red-hot shooting nights. However, those efforts were not always enough: the Dallas Mavericks won by five, the Philadelphia 76ers won by 10, the Minnesota Timberwolves lost by three and the Phoenix Suns lost by two.
Hey everyone, welcome back from winter break!
This Sunday, Jan. 28, we’re heading into the decisive weekend for the NFL Conference. The Baltimore Ravens will host the Kansas City Chiefs at the M&T Bank Stadium right here in Baltimore, Md. On the other side of the country, the San Francisco 49ers will host the Detroit Lions at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. Both games are predicted to be incredibly exciting; the Ravens will be playing their first AFC Championship final in 11 years, since their win at Super Bowl XLVII. Quarterback Lamar Jackson has had an amazing season, which is a stark contrast to last January, and is “locked in” to lead the Ravens to the trophy. The Chiefs, on the other hand, are looking to defend their title, bringing in heavyweights like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
The Blue Jays stayed scorching hot on Monday with a 72-56 win over the Mary Washington Eagles.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, held on Sunday, Nov. 26, marked the end of the 2023 Formula 1 (F1) Championship. It was somewhat of a dramatic finale — although both Drivers and Constructors Championships had long been decided due to Max Verstappen’s unwavering dominance. Ferrari and Mercedes went into the last race of the season with the intention of claiming second place in the Constructors Championship. A risky strategy call by Ferrari, which ended up forcing Carlos Sainz to a second pitstop, coupled with strong race performances by George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, led Mercedes to finish three points ahead of the Prancing Horses.
Hopkins women’s basketball improved to 6-1 on Saturday, Dec. 2 with a win over Centennial Conference opponent Muhlenberg College. The Blue Jays took control of the game early, establishing a double-digit lead in the first quarter, and never looked back en route to a comfortable 77-55 victory over the Mules. This was par for the course for the Blue Jays, who have come out firing on all cylinders to begin their 2023-2024 campaign.
70. This is the number of points that the Denver Broncos conceded in their week 3 loss against the Miami Dolphins. Looking back, it’s difficult to believe that game was played this season, and even more difficult to believe that it got worse from there. As if conceding the second most points in NFL history wasn’t bad enough, two weeks later the Broncos lost to Nathaniel Hackett and the New York Jets, the man who led Denver in the disaster of a season that was 2022.
Centennial Conference Semifinals
Last year, 450 million people tuned into the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League final between Manchester City, one of the top picks for title contenders, and Inter Milan, who had launched an unlikely bid for the ‘Big Ears.’ As we head into winter and group-stage matches come to a close, let’s look back at the first games of this year’s Champions League and talk about what’s next.
After a long and eventful off-season, the NBA season is finally back upon us! All 30 teams are starting with a blank record and we, as fans, have (mostly) grand delusions that “this will finally be our year!” That being said, I wanted to delve into one key question that every team will have to answer for them to reach the promised land. Two week ago, I wrote this article for the Western Conference. This time, we’re looking at the Eastern Conference.
Hopkins football is now ranked as the eighth-best team in D-III football after an impressive 34–28 victory over 22nd-ranked Muhlenberg College on Saturday, Oct. 28. Hopkins was ahead for most of the game, but a late surge by the Muhlenberg Mules left the game tied with two minutes remaining. The improbable then happened, as a blocked kick by the Mules was returned for a touchdown by the Blue Jays to win the game.
As we approach the midway point of the 2023 NFL season, the contenders and pretenders have become much more clear. In the American Football Conference, the Miami Dolphins are a force to be reckoned with, earning the nickname “greatest show on turf” because of their dynamic, motion-driven offense.

In light of Max Verstappen claiming his third consecutive World Driver’s Championship (WDC) in last weekend’s race at the Qatar Grand Prix, join us for a recap of the 2023 season. Though the Charging Bulls’ dominance may be the headline story, this year has brought us mid-season driver swaps, epidemic dehydration and even lizards on the race track.
