This past weekend the women’s track and field team participated in two meets over two days, posting several season-best and personal-best performances. To start the weekend of competition, the Jays’ mile runners headed to Princeton University for the Larry Ellis Invitational, while the distance group traveled to Chester, Pa. for the Widener Invitational.

This past weekend, both the men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in the 124th annual Penn Relays Carnival hosted by the University of Pennsylvania at Franklin Field. The Penn Relays is both the oldest and largest relay meet in the world, attracting a crowd of about 100,000 spectators each year.

While many Hopkins students enjoyed a restful week away from Homewood, the men’s and women’s tennis teams were hard at work hosting their Centennial Conference season openers this past Saturday against the Dickinson College Red Devils. Both teams walked away with a victory to start their season with a perfect 1-0 record in Conference play.

This past weekend, the Hopkins track and field team capitalized on their last opportunity of the season to qualify for the NCAAs. A total of 10 individuals will head down to Birmingham, Ala. this Friday to compete in the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.

This past weekend, the men’s and women’s track teams had a historical performance at the Centennial Conference Championships. Hosted by Ursinus College, the Blue Jays headed to Collegeville, P.A. to defend their indoor Conference titles.

This past weekend, the women’s fencing team hosted the 2018 Eastern Women’s Fencing Conference Championship (EWFC) in Goldfarb Gym, taking second place in the team championship behind only the Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks. The Blue Jays ended their day 6-1, their only loss coming from a close 13-14 matchup against the Ducks.

Last weekend the men’s and women’s swim teams traveled down to Chapel Hill, N.C., for their last shot at qualifying for Nationals. The weekend-long Janis Hape Dowd Carolina College Nike Invitational, hosted by the University of North Carolina (UNC) and Duke University, was highlighted by numerous personal-best performances and NCAA B cuts to cap off the last meet of the regular season.

After about three weeks of hard training over Intersession, the Hopkins track and field teams were back on the start line for the Dr. Sander Invitational. The meet was held at the famous Armory Track in New York City this past Saturday, where both the men’s and women’s teams excelled with multiple personal-best performances.

The Hopkins men’s and women’s fencing teams have both had impressive early starts to the 2017-2018 season. Both teams went unbeaten at Haverford College’s Dan Arnstein Invitational, and the women made a special showing at the NIWFA Christmas Invitational, claiming two titles and placing four in the top three for their respective weapon.

As the rest of the student body was gearing up to go home and finally get some well-deserved sleep during Thanksgiving break, the Hopkins women’s cross country team was diligently preparing for the NCAA Championship race. The Blue Jays made their way to Principia College in Elsah, Ill. with hopes to defend their second straight NCAA title.

The Hopkins men’s soccer team hosted the Centennial Conference Championship Tournament this past weekend at Homewood Field. On Friday evening, the Blue Jays kicked off their tournament run, taking on the fifth-seeded Dickinson College Red Devils for the second week in a row, this time in the semi-final round of the Conference Tournament.

When fourth-year medical student Jordan Tropf gathered with thousands of other runners for the start of the 17th Annual Baltimore Marathon on Oct. 21, he expected to be competitive and race with the frontrunners. What Tropf did not expect was to win the race by over three full minutes. At his pace, this meant he was over a half a mile in front of the second-place finisher.

Both the men’s and women’s swim teams headed to Annapolis, Md., this past Friday for some tough competition against D-I opponents: the United States Naval Academy Midshipmen (Mids) and the Towson University Tigers.

This past weekend the eighth-ranked Blue Jays traveled to Carlisle, Pa. to take on the Dickinson College Red Devils. The Jays’ 45-10 victory marked the 45th straight regular season win and the 40th straight Centennial Conference win for Hopkins.
