Abstract:
On behalf of the brothers of the Hopkins chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, I would like to address some of the controversy surrounding our annual Halloween party. We are extremely sorry that the brother in charge of social events did not ensure that the language or decorations involved in the party or its promotion could not be misconstrued....

Instead, what Trautman has done was perpetuate the act of finger pointing that many of the student body, Sigma Chi and the BSU in particular, and the university administration are now engaged in. This letter accomplishes nothing in helping to begin the healing process. Furthermore, it fails to help repair the problems that are inherent on our campus which continue to divide us all. I don't believe that childish claims of "I may have done this, but he/she did this TOO!" does any justice to those who have had their images tainted by being associated with the fraternity, BSU, or our University.
It's time we proved those who judge us the most, wrong, and change the views of those who view our university critically for the better. Now is when we all need to do our part and begin to work together, to build a stronger and more unified student body, most.
