As far as I know most herbalist are practicing as general practitioners and not as specialists. They just use natural herbs instead of synthetic drugs.

I completely agree with this editorial. When I go to Health and Wellness I have to wait for hours if it's a walk-in. Even if I have an appointment, it's always a 30-45 minute wait because they're so backed up. Hiring an "herbal specialist" is absurd when the center can barely keep up with the demand there is now. They need to hire a real doctor who can take some of the pressure off the current employees.

The only aspect of CAM that has been "proven" is that it relies virtually entirely on the placebo effect (please read "Snake Oil Science: The Truth about Complementary and Alternative Medicine" by R. Barker Bausell). CAM's placebo-eliciting power is all well and good and warm and snuggly, but why a place for it is made at all in any modern science-based institution (which JH still is, presumably) is perplexing.

In spite of all that is going on today in the U.S. we still live in the greatest country in the world. We remain the richest, strongest, most technologically advanced (especially when it comes to science). We have more 21st century spaced-aged diagnostic toys then ever before. Medical science can put a name on almost anything that befalls us. Yet, in spite of All this we have more Cancer, more diabetes, more obesity, more degenerative disorders, more sexual dysfunction, more cardio-vascular disease then ever before in our history. Last year in the U.S. over one million people died from cardio-vascular disease. Were those just the ones that forgot to take their medications? To date, over 1 billion dollars has been raised for Jerry's kids. Are we any closer curing muscular dystrophy? But what the heck, it's modern science conducted in modern science-based institutions. I'd like to write more but my cauldron is boiling over.
