Flowers to find on campus

April 27, 2017

Red twig dogwood

Recognize them (obviously) by their red stem and small, white flowers.

Azaleas

There are white, pink and orange varieties on campus. They bloom across the entire bush in small clusters of flowers. Know them by their long stamens along with thinner, pointed and soft leaves.

Bluebells

These dainty plants can be seen on the path through the sculpture garden. Though the name is mostly self-explanatory, the flowers are actually more purple than blue.

Lily Magnolias

The abnormal weather this spring seems to have robbed us of the blooms this year. Normally, our campus is blanketed with the saccharine scent of the magnolia flowers. Know them by their large red-pink flowers.

Eastern redbud

These trees are covered in small, purple flowers which seem to even sprout directly from the bark. Know them by their small, heart-shaped leaves.
