Hopkins ranked 11th in the world

By JANE JEFFERY | October 30, 2014

U.S. News and World Report ranked Hopkins 11th among 496 global universities for 2015. This is the first year the publication has ranked universities from different nations on the same list.

The rankings broke new ground not only in their international nature but also in the methodology utilized. Criteria focused on the schools’ research missions rather than admis- sion rates or student-to-faculty ratios. The rankings are based on each school’s score out of 100. Scores ranged from 27.5 to 100, and Hopkins received a 77.

The University was ranked fourth for its total number of citations in published papers as well as for the number of highly cited individual papers. Hopkins ranked seventh for its total number of publications.

U.S. News listed Hopkins 12th in its most recent ranking of national universities in September.
